Research topics
Earth observation
Development and application of Earth Observation techniques, digital tools and modeling for the study of geophysical and environmental processes

The research line is aimed at the study of the atmosphere, the geosphere and the Earth’s surface using innovative multi-sensor and multi-platform detection techniques, and advanced data processing, machine learning and AI techniques to improve knowledge on the main geophysical and environmental phenomena with a view to sustainable development.

Natural, anthropogenic, and environmental hazards

Science and innovation to understand and mitigate natural, anthropogenic, and environmental hazards

The research topic is focused on the study, characterization, and assessment of natural, anthropogenic, and environmental hazards. The goal is to enhance the understanding of these phenomena and support strategies for contrasting and mitigating the associated risk, also in a framework of multi-risk and cascading effects.

Anthropogenic Impacts and Technologies for Environmental Remediation
Energy-environmental sustainability, climate planning, natural resources and circular economy

The research line addresses the main challenges of sustainability, and in particular climate change, with a multidisciplinary approach focusing on energy, environment, natural resources, economy and society, utilising and developing methodologies, models and techniques to improve knowledge and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
