CNR-IMAA

geoSDI Lab

ICT, Software and architectures to support research and development projects
The CNR-IMAA geoSDI Laboratory is focused on the study of innovative ICT technologies and Software Development, aimed at the interoperability of geospatial data and the creation of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI).
The know-how and activities of the geoSDI Lab support the various research activities of the CNR-IMAA and the Stakeholders who request its support and participation in research and development projects.
The geoSDI Laboratory in fact shares skills and experiences in the field of Territorial Information Systems, ICT Architectures, Interoperability Standards and Software Development, in order to design and create operational prototypes and innovative tools for the management and analysis of geolocalized data, with main attention to the Environmental and Anthropic and Natural Risk fields.

geoSDI Lab for the Department of Civil Protection
The CNR-IMAA is the Technological Competence Center for the Department of Civil Protection of the Prime Minister Office (DPC), pursuant to the Operational Agreement stipulated with decree no. 2568 of 22 June 2005.
The activities of the CNR-IMAA as the DPC Competence Center in the field of SDI are carried out by the geoSDI Laboratory, which, through Operational Agreements between the DPC and CNR-IMAA, provides, continuously since 2005, technological orientation and technical-scientific support to the DPC for the creation and use of ICT tools and technologies applied to risk planning and emergency management, in particular for the creation and sharing of maps accessible via the web.

Interoperability Laboratory for the Civil Protection Department
On 19/01/2023, at the request of the DPC, the “Interoperability Laboratory for the Department of Civil Protection” was formally established by the Director of the CNR IMAA, with a provision with CNR-IMAA protocol n. 7650/2023 of 16/01/2023. The Interoperability Laboratory, makes use of the technical-scientific skills of the personnel units belonging to the geoSDI Laboratory and of technological resources available at the Data Processing Center of the CNR-IMAA, made available for the experimentation and testing of applications and interoperability services, also functional to the National Public Alarm System (IT-alert)
